Most of the information is relayed in the video. Also, I just don’t have the energy at the moment to re-write the whole thing that is captured in the movie. So I highly recommend watching the clip.
This video shows me starting my 7.3 IDI engine on a stand after several late nights of painstakingly rebuilding it.
All I can really say is, most of things I did, I DO NOT recommend. I didn’t have a proper battery, I didn’t have a “run-stand,” I had shoddy secondhand battery cables, I had to use ether and heatgun in lieu of a proper GP harness, and so on. But in the end, it worked out ok. And I made sure not to run the beast for more than 15 seconds, since I didn’t have the coolant circuit set up either. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend doing this, unless you know you won’t run it long and it won’t tip over on you.
But since I had the beast and the camera running, I thought I would put it on the net because nearly ALL of the “IDI running on a stand” videos didn’t explain all the necessary steps to getting it started. Apparently, the only videographers on youtube with IDI’s have epilepsy or the inability to zoom in on shit. So here is my vid, complete with every explanation from top to bottom. HTH.
