Default Email was down for a bit

JeffNLisa just informed me that Glenn's email account had bounced one of his emails back. He's fixed his account, so if you sent him an email in the last few days, you may need to resend it.
Sorry for the troubles.

Default Liard Hot Springs

Nick,

To clarify, the hot springs are on the Alaska Hwy, so on the preferred route. They are, in no uncertain terms, a mandatory stop for anyone needing a driving break in a very hot, sore back relaxing, mind soothing, psyche cleansing, head clearing setting.

Its a British Columbia provincial park with a gate that unlocks about 7 AM. You pull in, park, then follow a board walk trail through a steaming, sulpherous section of bush swamp to a small rock and moss lined bush pool surrounded by towering birch trees. There is a change room at the pool site.

There is the regular pool and, for the more adventurous, an upper pool that used to be accessible, maybe still is, and its much hotter. However, most folks can't handle even the hot part of the regular pool. It has hot and cooler ends.

The best time to go is when its -35 C. The mist and towering birch with the surrounding snow make for a Trilogy of the Ring type setting. Spent a week or so there soaking at -40. There are more folks there in the summer so some sort of "swim wear" is required. There is a lodge with restaurant across the road.

Between John_Galt and I, we'll have VO for you, definitely on your north trip and potentially on your return. Given your time table, don't even think about the Cassiar Hwy.

I'm still here. We take off on June 27th. Once we are on the road, we'll post updates.

Hey, I'll be heading up the Seattle to Anchorage route this weekend and trying to fill up with as much grease as I can along the way. I've been planning this trip for a while, but it always seemed a little premature to start asking for grease hookups. Now it's upon me and I'm finding myself scrambling! I've sent a few messages on fillup4free.com, but if anyone that I haven't contacted has grease they'd be willing to part with along the way, I would be much in your debt. As some one who's driven between Alaska and the lower 48, if you want to be nice to your car and your mileage, I'd avoid the Cassiar. Dang is it pretty though!! Thanks all,

doctorb

Hey, tried to post to this earlier, but it didn't go through or something... anyway.

I'm setting out on the Seattle to Anchorage section on Friday and was hoping to run on veg as much as possible if anyone can help me out. I'm happy to pay for it, as long as it's cheaper than diesel =). So if you have any veggie contacts along the way, please let me know! I'd sure appreciate it!

Cool Initial Plans

Here's our itinerary for the first few days if we don't have any mechanical issues. (knock on wood).

JeffNLisa, I know we were set on getting some lunch or dinner somewhere, but Glenn could only get a flight to LAX late on Friday June 27th. So we should be pulling into your town around 1am best case scenario. Maybe we can get a drink at one of your favorite watering holes, before bar-close? I know it's late, but we can't wait until the next morning to begin our journey.

From Jeff's, we plan on cruising thru Death Valley early Saturday morning hoping to avoid the extreme temperatures. Hopefully by the end of the evening, we'll have circled "Area 51" and hit Rachel NV. It would be good to try and visit Great Basin Nat'l Park and Lehman Caves, but we'll see how difficult it is to traverse the "Extra-terrestrial Highway."

On Sunday the 29th, we should be cruising thru Salt Lake City, so if there are any greasers based there, it'd be cool to meet up. Just PM me your location and we'll let google maps do the rest.

To our contributers in Montana, thanks again for your help. If our travels go OK, we will be heading thru Helena and Missoula on Sunday night or Monday morning. We will call ahead of time to confirm with you.

More to come...

1am would do. It would be much better over coffee than at the local watering hole, especially if you guys are going to try to get thru Death Valley by shortly after sunup.

Ahh to be young again . . .

Jeff, Hopefully we can get a cup of coffee at the bar. It'll be a long drive to Rachel NV that day Can you PM me your details?

Rocking. I think we have enough oil for the trip (we'll know more when we are on the road), but we'd still like to meet up. Glenn will get in touch with you so we can get your info.
