thick plate steel to weld in with my new stick welder.\u00a0 For now, I&#8217;m going to leave it without the weld, so I can test out the axle with the radius arms, coils, and shocks installed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1670\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_141620-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1235\" height=\"570\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_141620-rotated.jpg 1235w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_141620-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_141620-1024x473.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_141620-768x354.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1235px) 100vw, 1235px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to see EXACTLY where the axle sits in the crossmember valley before cutting the rear flange.\u00a0 I&#8217;d had to cut that piece up and find out it was unnecessary.<\/p>\n<p>I slid the axle back under the van and it fit pretty spot on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1671\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_144906.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1235\" height=\"570\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_144906.jpg 1235w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_144906-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_144906-1024x473.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nickpisca.com\/diesel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260223_144906-768x354.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1235px) 100vw, 1235px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, this could be an illusion.\u00a0 The radius arm might pull it back toward the rear of the van.\u00a0 Or forward more.\u00a0 Also, I can&#8217;t tell if my axle is centered or not.\u00a0 I need to install the coils first to get an idea if the coil mounts align vertically.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t use a plumb bob because my van is jacked up at a crazy angle.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;m only off by a quarter or half inch, but it&#8217;ll be worth installing the axle first (test fitting), and then determining if I need to cut more and weld more.<\/p>\n<p>I only had a limited amount of time, but I did get the passenger side radius arm installed, then wasted a bunch of time hoisting up my axle off the jig to get it moving around enough.\u00a0 I still need to get the driver&#8217;s side rad arm installed before I can make anything definitive, but I&#8217;m already seeing some differences.\u00a0 Notably, the rad arms link to the axle in a way that makes the pumpkin not droop down so much, which I didn&#8217;t think of.\u00a0 This lifted the yoke up a lot, and put it closer to the crossmember in the rear&#8230;
